United to take advantage of rivals flop to cut the gap at the table Machester United vs Hull City Preview

TEAM NEWS

Manchester United to cut the gap to the top four to two point taking advantage of Arsenal lose, with Liverpool and Tottenham drawing.
Jose Mourinho has confirmed Eric Bailly will play against Hull despite the fact he only injured his ankle playing for the U23s on Monday following his early arrival from Africa Cup of Nations.
The Manchester United manager made wholesale changes to the side that thrashed Wigan 4-0 on Sunday and will recall the likes of Michael Carrick, David De Gea, Paul Pogba, Antonio Valencia and Zlatan Ibrahimovic here.
trivalfootball.com

Anthony Martial did not perform 'magnificently' against Wigan but did finish with two assists and had a goal disallowed, but Mourinho has confirmed he will drop back to the bench on Wednesday.
Luke Shaw also got a rare run out at the weekend but follow in Martial's footsteps due to the three-day turnaround. With Baily set to play, Marcos Rojo could move out to the left.

Curtis Davies picked up another injury during Hull's surprise 4-1 defeat to Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday and could be out for eight weeks.
Dieumerci Mbokani is also unlikely to feature in Wednesday's clash following DR Congo's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations at the weekend. Marco Silva is expected to be without nine other first-team players here.
Silva has denied Andrew Robertson will leave the club so he will play here. Andrea Ranocchia joined on Tuesday and is free to play here, although a place on the bench seems more likely unless Michael Dawson fails to overcome a slight problem.
Fellow deadline day signing Alfred N'Diaye is awaiting international clearance but may not have signed in time to feature here.
MANAGERS VIEW
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "The last time we played them, even a defeat would have been a good result. Even to lose the match by one goal difference would give us a final.

"And tomorrow only three points is a good result for us so if we don't win it's really bad because we need to win matches. That's a big difference, we need to win the match.

Hull head coach Marco Silva on the loan signing of Andrea Ranocchia: "Andrea is a good signing for us and he plays in a position that we needed to add to.

"We are happy with Michael Dawson, Harry Maguire and Curtis Davies but in these last games they do a lot to help the team. With the injury to Curtis now, we needed to bring in one more player.

"He has the quality to help improve our squad. He has played for a lot of years with Inter Milan and he is an international player for Italy. He is experienced also."

Jose Mourinho ready to plot £70m bid to sign Portugal international

According to The Sun, Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho is plotting a sensational £70m bid for AS Monaco star Bernardo Silva, who he believes could make a perfect partnership with Antoine Griezmann when the Frenchman joins Old Trafford side.

Alongside Griezmann and Silva, Man United have also been linked with a move for Bayern Munich attacking superstar, Thomas Muller.

Deal Close: Man United set to agree £21.7m deal with League 1 giants

According to the latest transfer news, Manchester United have almost reached the agreement over the transfer move of Memphis Depay to Lyon, but they have inserted a buy-back clause into the deal.
The Old Trafford side have finally agreed to sell their 22-year-old winger to the French club after weeks of haggling over a move.
The transfer fee is believed to be around £16m, possibly rising to £21.7m after Lyon met Man United’s demands.
Lyon has been chasing for the Dutch international since the beginning of the January transfer window and have seen two bids turned down by the Red Devils.
Depay has found life in Manchester difficult since his big-money move from Eredivisie giants PSV back in 2015 when Louis van Gaal was still in charge at Old Trafford.
Man United head coach Jose Mourinho has not had much time for the 22-year-old winger since he took over with the Dutchman making only six appearances this term.
As per the Sky Sports, the Premier League club also have a sell-on clause in the deal should Lyon cash in on Depay in the future.

Man United ready to beat Borussia Dortmund in race for £17m Ajax goal machine

According to the German media sources, Manchester United have to beat Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in order to wrap up a deal for Ajax Amsterdam striker Kasper Dolberg before the end of January transfer window.
It is believed that German giants are considering Dolberg as the potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who could leave Signal Iduna Park for a big-money move.
Man United are believed to be one of Dolberg’s many suitors, but it’s yet to be confirmed if they are ready to make an official bid for the highly-regarded youngster until the summer transfer window.
But as per the Bild, Borussia Dortmund are without their main man in Aubameyang who is currently on duty at the African Cup of Nations and want reinforcements.
It is believed that Dortmund are also about to sell Adrian Ramos to Chongqing Lifan which would leave the Bundesliga side without a senior striker in their ranks.
The 19-year-old Kasper Dolberg is expected to command a fee of £17m after scoring 11 goals in 28 matches this term.
Ajax have the young forward tied to the club until 2021, but may be tempted to cash in on their asset in January with interest from Dortmund.

Manchester United star off to China to earn £5.25m a year

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Manchester United wide-man Ashley Young has a £5.25m-a-year contract offer from Chinese Super League and is considering Old Trafford exit this January.
The former Asto Villa star has been approached by Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng who are ready to plot a £10 million transfer fee for the Englishman’s signature.

As per the same sources, Young is mulling over a three-year contract deal from the club currently managed by Felix Magath, but is under contract with the Red Devils until 2018. The Old Trafford club also have the option for a further year, putting the club in a comfortable position should they want to block winger’s move to far east.
Chinese club have already sealed big-money transfers of Premier League stars this month, including Chelsea attacking midfielder Oscar, who sealed a sensational move to Shanghai SIPG where he earns a reported £20m-a-year.
The 31-year-old Ashley Young currently earns £120,00-a-week at Man United. The England international has managed just six starts this term under the Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho and has been frustrated watching his side play from the bench.

Mourinho Makes his former player at Chelsea number one target

According to the latest reports from English media, Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has made Chelsea defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic his top priority for the summer transfer window
trivalfootball.com

The reports from Sunday Mirror suggest that the Red Devils boss vis considering the Serbia international as the ‘ideal’ replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who has already joined Everton officially, and Michael Carrick, who is coming to the end of his career at Old Trafford.
The Special One has already identified four key transfer targets for the summer transfer window and alongside 28-year-old Matic is Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann.
But the report claims that Portuguese manager’s desire to get the signature of the Chelsea midfielder is as strong as it is to lure the France international from Diego Simeone’s side.
Nemanja Matic, who joined the Stamford Bridge side in a £21m deal back in 2014, has been one of Chelsea’s key players in midfield this season. The Serbian star also won the Premier League title alongside Jose Mourinho in 2015.
Meanwhile, Man United manager is considering January move for Benfica’s highly-rated duo, Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo, as both player have been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in latest times.

Man United moving for £30m release clause South American target

According to the latest transfer news, Brazilian club Flamengo have snubbed an approach from Manchester United for their teenage starlet Vinicius Junior.
Man United are one of several top European clubs who are closely monitoring the 16-year-old sensation and wanted to agree a first option deal with the South American club.
The talented striker has been compared to Neymar in Brazil and has already scored four goals in six matches in the Copinha U20 tournament this term.
Brazilian big-name stars like Neymar, Lucas Moura and Oscar have all dazzled during the tournament in the past and Flamengo have installed a £30m release clause in Junior’s contract to protect their asset.
However, as the ex-president of Flamengo Kleber Leite claims, the club have rejected an offer from the Old Trafford side to have a first option deal on the young striker.
During his interview, Leite said: ‘[Luz – Flamengo director] told me that he was contacted a while ago by a representative of Manchester United, who wanted to discuss the possibility of them having priority for a transfer.’
‘The talks didn’t get far, because Fred Luz told them plainly that future discussions would depend on the immediate payment of a sum that would give them priority among offers of equal value.
‘At that point, the Englishman, who thought it was going to be a piece of cake, left and didn’t return.’

WEST BROM VS MANCHESTER UNITED MATCH PREVIEW EXPERT ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

WEST BROM VS MANCHESTER UNITED MATCH PREVIEW EXPERT ANALYSIS AND PREDICTIONS

TEAM NEWS

West Brom's former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans faces a fitness test after missing the midweek win over Swansea because of a calf injury.
Craig Dawson is available after serving a one-match suspension for collating five bookings.
Tony Pulis is again without Boaz Myhill and Saido Berahino due to injury and a lack of match fitness, respectively.
trivalfootball.com

They are joined on the sidelines by Luke Shaw, although Chris Smalling is back and available, although he may have to settle for a place on the bench unless Jose Mourinho wants to use his height to help deal with Salomon Rondon.
Anthony Martial didn't travel with the squad in midweek but the reason behind his absence wasn't specified. He should return to the fold here unless he has picked up an injury.
Henrik Mkhitaryan will miss out for United after being stretchered off with an ankle injury in the win over Spurs.
Antonio Valencia and Chris Smalling return to the squad but Eric Bailly is a out with a fresh knee problem.
MANAGERS OPINIONS
West Brom head coach Tony Pulis said: "Manchester United are going to be a massive challenge for us tomorrow. They've drawn four or five games where they could've won this year.
"United are on an unbeaten run and they deserve respect. I think they'll finish in the top four. It'll be tough for us. Jose (Mourinho) is a top manager and he will get it right. They've got threats from everywhere, whichever team he picks.
"We will look forward to the game. We've got momentum, we're scoring lots of goals at home. Hopefully that can continue."
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said: "We didn't (yet) arrive at half of the race. That is the 31st of December. I'd say first half of (the) race would be almost impossible to be in the top four, but one thing is to be 15 points from the top four, another thing is to be five points from the top four.
"What we have to try and do in these three remaining matches is to try to be in a position that gives us a chance in the second half of the season.
"We are playing really well. If we can transform performances into results we'll have a chance."
WHAT WE THINK
  • West Brom's 3-1 win over Swansea on Wednesday has lifted them up to seventh in the league and just four points behind Saturday's opponents Manchester United. They are flying at the moment and have scored 10 goals in their last three home games. In fact, since the start of November only Chelsea (18) have won more points than the Baggies (13).
  • Manchester United secured back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since August with a dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night and they must now turn their attentions to recording their win in three away to West Brom.
  • Jose Mourinho's side are better equipped to deal with the festive period and the quick run of games could work in their favour ahead of this very tough match.
  • PREDICTION- BOTH TEAM TO SCORE

MAN UNITED CLOSING IN ON £24M JANUARY DEAL

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United reign received another welcome boost last night as our United supporting punters watched their side beat Crystal Palace.
The self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ has failed to wholly convince since being handed the reigns at Old Trafford, despite a huge summer of change.
With so much deadwood picked up during the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, reports from the Daily Telegraph have excited our drinkers.
AdTech Ad
They claim Morgan Schneiderlin’s unhappy stay at the Theatre of Dreams is set to come to an end as he closes in on a £24m move to Everton.
Despite being one of the most highly-rated defensive midfielders in the Premier League during his stint with Toffees chief Ronald Koeman at Southampton, the Frenchman has struggled since his move.
He’s yet to start a Premier League game under the Portuguese and the Merseyside outfit are understood to be willing to meet his £120k-per-week wage demands.
Our resident Everton fans are simply delighted about the 27-year-old’s seemingly imminent capture, despite his struggles of late.
The Les Blues ace is believed to be viewed as a long-term replacement for Gareth Barry at Goodison and represents quite a coup for Koeman.

Claudio Bravo lucky not to concede penalty - experts

Claudio Bravo lucky not to concede penalty - Ian Wright

Manchester City keeper Claudio Bravo was "lucky" not to give away a penalty in the 2-1 win against Manchester United, says Ian Wright.
Wright believes 33-year-old Bravo, who has replaced England's Joe Hart at City, should have been punished for a second-half challenge on Wayne Rooney.
"It's is a penalty. His studs are up," Wright told Match of the Day.
"He jumps in off the ground. He is out of control of his body. It is reckless. It wasn't given and he was lucky."
Bravo was signed for £15.4m this summer which signalled Hart's departure to Italian club Torino on loan.
But Bravo, making his debut against United, was also at fault when he dropped a free-kick with City leading 2-0, which allowed United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score.
"The way Joe Hart was jettisoned from the squad, I'm thinking Claudio Bravo must be unbelievable," said Wright.
"He has to catch it or punch it and doesn't do either. The communication has to get better. For me, that is terrible."
He added: "I fancy City for the league this season but with him in goal, especially off today's showing, he's going to give people a chance."

Since the re-branding of English top flight division 1 to English Premier league in 1992, one team has dominated english football above all, Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United who has won the title 13 times in the last 23 years and only four teams has manage to break their dominance albeit temporarily. Blackburn Rovers were the first team to win the title other than Manchester United back in 1994/95 season when under Kenny Dalgish and of course new owner Jack Walker who injected millions in the club to take them from league 1 to all the way premier league winners in very short span of time. But Blackburn failed to build on their success and got relegated a few years later.
It took another three years after Blackburns premier league win for other team to break United’s record breaking success when Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal won the title in 1997-98. But United bite back and won three back to back titles including the famous 1998-99 season where they became first english club to win treble of trophies. United’s next title was in 2002-03 season which was sandiwched between Arsenal’s 2001-02 and 2003-04 titles before Jose Mourinho took over Chelsea and won back to back Premier League titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. That lead to Sir Alex developing another great team with the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney spearheading United’s attack as they won three back to back titles for the second time since 1992. Here is the list of all Premier League winners since 1992 to 2005.
