The 7th round of the Premier League fixtures produced some thrilling contests between the best teams in the country. There were loads of performances from top class players that helped their team to a victory and has shown that the Premier League is still the most competitive competition in Europe.
This weekend saw the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool excel while both Manchester clubs failed to record a victory.
There were a number of classy individual performances and here is the team of the week or match day 7 of the Premier League:
Lee Grant (Stoke City):
Stoke City managed to hold on to a point against Manchester United this weekend and Grant had a huge say in it. He made a number of top class saves to keep his side in the game and managed to give them a point. had a whoscored rating of 8.23 winning the man of the match, a repeat of this performance may see jack butland struggles when he returns
Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur):
Full of confidence and energy on the night, Kyle Walker, was one of the best players for Tottenham on the night as he managed to have an impact at both ends of the field.
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal):
Arguably the best center back in the league at the moment, Koscielny, was under pressure playing away from home at Turf Moor. However, he managed to hold on to a clean sheet to give his side all three points finding the back of the net in the last minute of the game.
Winston Reid (West Ham United):
West Ham United held on to a 1-1 draw versus Middlesbrough this weekend and Reid was in the midst of most that was happening. He was strong to keep the Boro attack away and also picked up the assist for Payet’s goal on a productive night.
James Milner (Liverpool):
Growing in stature as left-back, Milner, was once again a an impact player for the side covering ground on his flank and keeping Swansea at bay. Kept his cool to convert the penalty and give Liverpool all three points on the night.
N Golo Kante (Chelsea):
Chelsea’s powerhouse in the midfield, Kante, was responsible for most attacks that the Blues put together on the night against Hull City. Though he had chances to score, Kante set up his teammates on a number of occasions on a decent night.
Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)
Tottenham Hotspur’s man of the match in their incredible victory over Manchester City, Dele Alli picked up a goal and also managed to frustrate the Manchester City defense for long periods of time at the weekend.
Willian (Chelsea):
Another Chelsea player who was full of energy on the night, Willian, was superb on the flank, giving Hull City loads of problems before scoring one of the best goals of the weekend to open the scoring on the night.
Dimitri Payet (West Ham United):
His stunning goal was not enough for West Ham against Middlesbrough but Payet was one of the best players on the field on the night. He kept asking questions of Boro’s defense and finally opened it up with a sizzling finish to get his team into the lead.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool):
Liverpool’s Brazilian contingent has been superb recently and Firmino was the man who was at the top of his game this weekend. He scored the first and won the penalty that Milner converted in a man of the match performance for the Reds.
Diego Costa (Chelsea):
Another day and another winner from the Spaniard who is slowly becoming an indispensible player for Conte. He scored the second against Hull on the night, putting the game beyond their opponents and giving Conte all three points after two games.
